Last thursday evening, September 18, 2014 CASA traveled together downtown to be honored by our fabulous partner, the Community Development Project at Urban Justice Center (UJC). CASA received the Activist Award for our “long-standing dedication to building the power of Bronx tenants and fiercely advocating for affordable housing.”
Longtime CASA Leader Mildred James spoke on behalf of CASA. Mildred has been a part of the CASA family since the beginning back in 2005! James spoke about how much it meant to receive the award for the groundbreaking work CASA has accomplished and to see CASA’s growth from a small gathering at monthly membership meetings to seeing over a hundred members packed into the New Settlement Community Center. She can’t wait until we are thousands strong!
Thanks to our ongoing collaboration with the Community Development Project at UJC, we have been able to publish two impactful reports. A huge thanks to the Community Development Project at UJC for honoring CASA with the Activist Award. We are so grateful for your intentional and powerful collaboration that has helped deepen the impact of our work. AND WAY TO GO CASA!! CASA POWER!
